Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Oil, Gas & Electricity, Plastic and Iron & Steel sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Genius (TW:3406), which rose 10.00% or 29.00 points to trade at 319.00 at the close. Genesis Photon (TW:3383) added 10.00% or 0.40 points to end at 4.40 and Maxtek Tech (TW:3315) was up 10.00% or 2.10 points to 23.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Arcadyan Tech (TW:3596), which lost 9.65% or 5.80 points to trade at 54.30 in late trade. Leadtek (TW:2465) declined 9.17% or 0.53 points to end at 5.25 and Kpt Industries (TW:1805) shed 6.39% or 0.85 points to 12.45.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 473 to 317 and 90 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was up 0.56% or 0.29 to $52.53 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 0.45% or 0.25 to hit $55.49 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.10% or 1.25 to trade at $1256.05 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.11% to 30.642, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2249.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 101.11.
