Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Rubber and Plastic sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.78%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Microtek Intl (TW:2305), which rose 9.92% or 0.84 points to trade at 9.31 at the close. Crowell (TW:2528) added 9.60% or 0.68 points to end at 7.76 and Jye Tai Precision Industrial Co Ltd (TW:6165) was up 7.84% or 0.80 points to 11.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included China Tv (TW:9928), which lost 10.00% or 0.65 points to trade at 5.85 in late trade. Tainan Cayman (TW:5906) declined 7.80% or 0.17 points to end at 2.01 and Sunspring Meta (TW:2062) shed 6.79% or 2.95 points to 40.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 536 to 204 and 107 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 1.25% or 0.60 to $47.59 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 1.61% or 0.79 to hit $48.14 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 1.49% or 19.00 to trade at $1255.40 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.22% to 32.773, while TWD/CNY rose 0.10% to 0.1989.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.03% at 95.17.
