Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Hotels and Oil, Gas & Electricity sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.99% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Lemtech Holdings Co Ltd (TW:4912), which rose 9.98% or 8.60 points to trade at 94.80 at the close. Chia Her Industrial (TW:1449) added 9.96% or 0.50 points to end at 5.52 and Kao Hsing Chan (TW:2008) was up 9.95% or 1.05 points to 11.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included I-Hwa Industrial Co Ltd (TW:1456), which lost 5.23% or 0.80 points to trade at 14.50 in late trade. Global Lightin (TW:4935) declined 4.36% or 2.90 points to end at 63.60 and Hiyes International Co Ltd (TW:2348) shed 3.59% or 0.65 points to 17.45.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 469 to 279 and 130 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was down 0.17% or 0.09 to $53.13 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 0.09% or 0.05 to hit $55.44 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.97% or 11.65 to trade at $1216.55 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.44% to 31.392, while TWD/CNY fell 0.69% to 0.2174.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.55% at 100.22.
