Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Oil, Gas & Electricity, Rubber and Plastic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.87% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Ene (TW:6243), which rose 10.00% or 1.75 points to trade at 19.25 at the close. Nantex Industr (TW:2108) added 9.96% or 2.50 points to end at 27.60 and Pec (TW:4916) was up 9.88% or 2.80 points to 31.15 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Topkey (TW:4536), which lost 7.72% or 9.50 points to trade at 113.50 in late trade. Yoko Tech (TW:6131) declined 6.81% or 0.80 points to end at 10.95 and Shuttle (TW:2405) shed 6.13% or 0.58 points to 8.88.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 511 to 253 and 86 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 0.12% or 0.05 to $40.25 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $41.55 a barrel, while the April Gold contract rose 0.06% or 0.70 to trade at $1265.70 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.34% to 32.425, while TWD/CNY fell 0.25% to 0.1993.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.08% at 94.85.
