Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Electronic Parts/Components, Plastic and Cement sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.69% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Min Aik Precision Industrial Co Ltd (TW:4545), which rose 9.99% or 4.30 points to trade at 47.35 at the close. Aopen (TW:3046) added 9.96% or 0.47 points to end at 5.19 and San Chih (TW:3579) was up 9.83% or 1.15 points to 12.85 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Transasia (TW:6702), which lost 8.82% or 0.06 points to trade at 0.62 in late trade. Lung Hwa Eltrs (TW:2424) declined 4.94% or 1.15 points to end at 22.15 and Li Cheng (TW:4426) shed 4.61% or 4.50 points to 93.20.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 428 to 321 and 127 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.10% or 0.05 to $52.30 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.29% or 0.16 to hit $55.26 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.21% or 2.55 to trade at $1199.15 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.74% to 31.695, while TWD/CNY fell 0.05% to 0.2187.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.39% at 101.30.
