Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Glass, Oil, Gas & Electricity and Cement & Glass sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 1.14%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Chipmos (TW:8150), which rose 9.97% or 3.30 points to trade at 36.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Merry Eltrs (TW:2439) added 9.84% or 6.10 points to end at 68.10 and Wei Chih Steel (TW:2028) was up 9.83% or 0.17 points to 1.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Twinhead Intl (TW:2364), which fell 9.90% or 0.41 points to trade at 3.73 at the close. Accton (TW:2345) declined 4.08% or 0.85 points to end at 20.00 and In-Win Dev (TW:6117) was down 3.57% or 0.55 points to 14.85.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 585 to 252 and 5 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for December delivery was up 0.05% or 0.03 to $46.16 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.21% or 0.10 to hit $48.68 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.09% or 1.00 to trade at $1136.90 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.96% to 32.403, while TWD/CNY rose 0.05% to 0.1951.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.09% at 96.91.
