Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Machinery and Other Electronic sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 1.44% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Formosa Sumco (TW:3532), which rose 6.71% or 2.60 points to trade at 41.35 at the close. Carry (TW:3054) added 6.65% or 1.35 points to end at 21.65 and I-Hwa Industrial Co Ltd (TW:1456) was up 6.59% or 0.60 points to 9.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Nien Made Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:8464), which lost 8.79% or 32.00 points to trade at 332.00 in late trade. Epileds Tech (TW:4956) declined 8.37% or 2.10 points to end at 23.00 and Ennoconn (TW:6414) shed 8.32% or 40.50 points to 446.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 732 to 84 and 47 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.77% or 0.36 to $46.31 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.64% or 0.31 to hit $47.83 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.45% or 5.75 to trade at $1293.75 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.09% to 31.591, while TWD/CNY rose 0.09% to 0.2152.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.10% at 97.66.
