Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Other Electronic and Semiconductor sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.28%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Union Insuranc (TW:2816), which rose 10.00% or 1.20 points to trade at 13.20 at the close. AP Memory Technology Corp (TW:6531) added 9.89% or 6.40 points to end at 71.10 and Shin Kong Fhc (TW:2888) was up 9.89% or 0.70 points to 7.78 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tai-I (TW:1613), which lost 9.91% or 0.230 points to trade at 2.090 in late trade. Transasia (TW:6702) declined 9.83% or 0.46 points to end at 4.22 and Genesis Photon (TW:3383) shed 7.05% or 0.17 points to 2.24.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 440 to 334 and 98 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 0.17% or 0.08 to $48.02 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 0.04% or 0.02 to hit $48.97 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.21% or 2.45 to trade at $1185.35 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.19% to 31.935, while TWD/CNY fell 0.19% to 0.2152.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.14% at 101.87.
