Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Cement and Oil, Gas & Electricity sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Crowell (TW:2528), which rose 9.99% or 0.73 points to trade at 8.04 at the close. Jye Tai Precision Industrial Co Ltd (TW:6165) added 9.89% or 0.89 points to end at 9.89 and Grand Ocean (TW:5907) was up 9.88% or 2.10 points to 23.35 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Htc Corp (TW:2498), which lost 10.00% or 6.90 points to trade at 62.10 in late trade. Min Aik (TW:3060) declined 9.97% or 4.90 points to end at 44.25 and Ko Ja (TW:5215) shed 9.92% or 3.55 points to 32.25.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 519 to 238 and 94 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.09% or 0.04 to $44.62 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.09% or 0.04 to hit $45.56 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.81% or 10.25 to trade at $1275.05 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.01% to 32.528, while TWD/CNY rose 0.05% to 0.2007.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.21% at 94.02.
