Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Machinery sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.20%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Tainan Cayman (TW:5906), which rose 9.98% or 0.630 points to trade at 6.940 at the close. China Tv (TW:9928) added 9.89% or 0.47 points to end at 5.22 and China Petroche (TW:1314) was up 7.67% or 0.59 points to 8.28 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hanpin (TW:2488), which lost 8.98% or 4.60 points to trade at 46.60 in late trade. Chuwa Wool (TW:1439) declined 8.79% or 1.70 points to end at 17.65 and Chinese Mariti (TW:2612) shed 6.09% or 1.70 points to 26.20.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 0 to 0 on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was down 0.80% or 0.40 to $49.41 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.67% or 0.35 to hit $51.58 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 1.17% or 14.65 to trade at $1266.55 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.07% to 31.454, while TWD/CNY rose 0.19% to 0.2137.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.18% at 96.69.
