Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the , Glass and Communication and Internet sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 0.18%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Sunty Develop (TW:3266), which rose 10.00% or 1.15 points to trade at 12.65 at the close. Formosa Sumco (TW:3532) added 9.98% or 3.20 points to end at 35.25 and Infodisc Tech (TW:2491) was up 7.67% or 0.56 points to 7.86 in late trade.
Biggest losers included China Electric (TW:1611), which lost 9.93% or 0.82 points to trade at 7.44 in late trade. Shin Zu Shing (TW:3376) declined 6.31% or 6.40 points to end at 95.10 and Bestec Power (TW:3308) shed 4.21% or 0.36 points to 8.20.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 425 to 309 and 130 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.60% or 0.29 to $48.41 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.55% or 0.28 to hit $50.40 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.01% or 0.15 to trade at $1276.95 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.28% to 31.535, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2157.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.16% at 98.47.
