Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the , Paper & Pulp and Transport sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.17% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Alchip Technologies Ltd (TW:3661), which rose 10.00% or 5.00 points to trade at 55.00 at the close. Fulgent Sun (TW:9802) added 9.92% or 6.60 points to end at 73.10 and Teapo (TW:2375) was up 9.82% or 2.20 points to 24.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Inventec Besta (TW:8201), which lost 9.91% or 1.65 points to trade at 15.00 in late trade. Sunrace (TW:1526) declined 9.80% or 1.95 points to end at 17.95 and Tatung Co Ltd (TW:2371) shed 9.21% or 1.05 points to 10.35.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 518 to 260 and 96 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 0.77% or 0.41 to $52.77 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 0.73% or 0.41 to hit $55.48 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.08% or 1.00 to trade at $1289.50 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.11% to 30.356, while TWD/CNY fell 0.09% to 0.2265.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 100.30.
