Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Oil, Gas & Electricity sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Dynamic (TW:6251), which rose 10.00% or 1.00 points to trade at 11.00 at the close. Airtac (TW:1590) added 10.00% or 22.00 points to end at 242.00 and Sunrace (TW:1526) was up 9.96% or 1.40 points to 15.45 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Genesis Photon (TW:3383), which lost 9.84% or 0.48 points to trade at 4.40 in late trade. Svbi (TW:1786) declined 9.74% or 5.70 points to end at 52.80 and Yoko Tech (TW:6131) shed 7.17% or 0.85 points to 11.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 383 to 374 and 97 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.83% or 0.37 to $44.86 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.72% or 0.34 to hit $47.31 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.17% or 2.35 to trade at $1345.55 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.27% to 31.315, while TWD/CNY rose 0.14% to 0.2118.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.04% at 95.64.
