Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , Electricity and Information Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were I-Chiun (TW:2486), which rose 9.99% or 0.83 points to trade at 9.14 at the close. Optimax Technology Corp (TW:3051) added 9.88% or 0.42 points to end at 4.67 and Loop Telecom (TW:3025) was up 9.87% or 1.10 points to 12.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Transasia (TW:6702), which lost 9.09% or 0.06 points to trade at 0.60 in late trade. Yu Foung Intl (TW:1438) declined 7.99% or 0.330 points to end at 3.800 and Formosa Sumco (TW:3532) shed 7.88% or 5.10 points to 59.60.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 411 to 316 and 150 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.15% or 0.08 to $53.10 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 0.11% or 0.06 to hit $55.84 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.60% or 6.85 to trade at $1140.45 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.25% to 32.310, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2162.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.05% at 103.00.
