Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Other Electronic, Computers & Peripherals and Semiconductor sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 2.62%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Pec (TW:4916), which rose 10.00% or 3.85 points to trade at 42.35 at the close. Swancor (TW:4733) added 9.96% or 11.50 points to end at 127.00 and Pegatron (TW:4938) was up 9.93% or 6.00 points to 66.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tong-Hwa Synth (TW:1418), which lost 9.78% or 0.44 points to trade at 4.06 in late trade. Space Shuttle (TW:2440) declined 4.76% or 0.43 points to end at 8.60 and Aoc (TW:6289) shed 4.63% or 0.05 points to 1.03.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 740 to 63 and 49 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 1.24% or 0.60 to $47.81 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 1.01% or 0.49 to hit $48.23 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.12% or 1.55 to trade at $1251.35 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.22% to 32.672, while TWD/CNY rose 0.10% to 0.2002.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.08% at 95.21.
