Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Oil, Gas & Electricity, Information Services and Cement sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 1.10%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Cyberlink (TW:5203), which rose 9.92% or 7.00 points to trade at 77.60 at the close. Pqi (TW:6145) added 9.80% or 0.88 points to end at 9.86 and Transasia (TW:6702) was up 9.37% or 0.06 points to 0.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Grape King (TW:1707), which lost 9.88% or 20.50 points to trade at 187.00 in late trade. Pal Wonn Taiwan Co Ltd (TW:2429) declined 4.44% or 0.75 points to end at 16.15 and Chenming Mold (TW:3013) shed 4.10% or 0.75 points to 17.55.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 602 to 152 and 123 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.37% or 0.20 to $53.97 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.49% or 0.28 to hit $57.13 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.23% or 2.65 to trade at $1160.75 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.21% to 32.239, while TWD/CNY rose 0.37% to 0.2169.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.24% at 102.41.
