Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Oil, Gas & Electricity, Cement and Cement & Glass sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.83% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Candmark (TW:5259), which rose 9.87% or 0.23 points to trade at 2.56 at the close. Genesis Photon (TW:3383) added 9.86% or 0.50 points to end at 5.57 and Young Fast (TW:3622) was up 9.80% or 1.00 points to 11.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Aoc (TW:6289), which lost 7.32% or 0.090 points to trade at 1.140 in late trade. G.M.I (TW:3312) declined 6.78% or 0.48 points to end at 6.60 and Hsin Ba Ba (TW:9906) shed 5.00% or 1.15 points to 21.85.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 435 to 303 and 115 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.43% or 0.21 to $48.54 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.54% or 0.27 to hit $49.98 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 1.04% or 13.75 to trade at $1334.35 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.25% to 32.201, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2059.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.08% at 96.03.
