Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Machinery and Trading & Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.53% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Bizlink (TW:3665), which rose 10.00% or 19.00 points to trade at 209.00 at the close. Htc Corp (TW:2498) added 10.00% or 6.30 points to end at 69.30 and Teapo (TW:2375) was up 9.96% or 2.25 points to 24.85 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pihsiang (TW:1729), which lost 9.89% or 3.20 points to trade at 29.15 in late trade. Tnc Indu (TW:1724) declined 5.04% or 0.85 points to end at 16.00 and Jourdeness Group Ltd (TW:4190) shed 3.78% or 3.00 points to 76.40.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 585 to 198 and 88 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 0.63% or 0.29 to $46.17 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.49% or 0.24 to hit $48.97 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.49% or 5.90 to trade at $1222.00 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.06% to 30.283, while TWD/CNY rose 0.13% to 0.2280.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 99.34.
