Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Textile, Glass and Chemicals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.51%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Plotech (TW:6141), which rose 10.00% or 0.95 points to trade at 10.45 at the close. Epileds Tech (TW:4956) added 10.00% or 1.95 points to end at 21.45 and Honmyue Enter (TW:1474) was up 10.00% or 1.15 points to 12.65 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Eurocharm Holdings (TW:5288), which lost 8.25% or 8.50 points to trade at 94.50 in late trade. Hota Ind (TW:1536) declined 6.41% or 9.00 points to end at 131.50 and Geo Vision (TW:3356) shed 3.80% or 1.65 points to 41.80.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 454 to 292 and 116 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.76% or 0.38 to $50.32 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.70% or 0.36 to hit $51.88 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.47% or 5.85 to trade at $1262.45 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.26% to 31.694, while TWD/CNY rose 0.19% to 0.2126.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.18% at 97.68.
