Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Glass, Paper & Pulp and Trading & Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.04%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Genius Electronic Optical Co Ltd (TW:3406), which rose 9.93% or 29.00 points to trade at 321.00 at the close. Sumagh High Tech Corp (TW:1475) added 9.92% or 1.75 points to end at 19.40 and Inventec Besta Co Ltd (TW:8201) was up 9.69% or 1.25 points to 14.15 in late trade.
Biggest losers included CoAdna Holdings Inc (TW:4984), which lost 10.00% or 5.25 points to trade at 47.25 in late trade. Cheer Time Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:3229) declined 9.90% or 2.05 points to end at 18.65 and Evertex Fabrinology Ltd (TW:1470) shed 5.91% or 1.10 points to 17.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 489 to 264 and 124 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.44% or 0.21 to $47.98 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.42% or 0.21 to hit $49.91 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.17% or 2.18 to trade at $1295.32 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.11% to 30.121, while TWD/CNY fell 0.13% to 0.2259.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 96.52.
