Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Mining and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX added 1.23%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were NLMK ao (MCX:NLMK), which rose 4.45% or 3.30 points to trade at 77.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Akron (MCX:AKRN) added 4.25% or 97.0 points to end at 2380.0 and Sberbank Rossii OAO Pref (MCX:SBER_p) was up 3.66% or 1.71 points to 48.38 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF), which fell 1.56% or 9.20 points to trade at 579.30 at the close. MMK (MCX:MAGN) declined 1.41% or 0.240 points to end at 16.800 and DIXY Group ao (MCX:DIXY) was down 0.94% or 3.00 points to 314.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 139 to 52 and 7 ended unchanged.
Shares in DIXY Group ao (MCX:DIXY) fell to 52-week lows; down 0.94% or 3.00 to 314.50.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.81% to 38.600.
Gold for August delivery was down 0.28% or 3.20 to $1160.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 2.67% or 1.38 to hit $53.03 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 3.43% or 1.96 to trade at $59.01 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.68% to 57.120, while EUR/RUB fell 1.23% to 62.888.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.45% at 96.81.
