Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Oil & Gas and Power sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX gained 0.04%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were Yandex NV (MCX:YNDX), which rose 6.60% or 62.00 points to trade at 1002.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Gruppa Cherkizovo ao (MCX:GCHE) added 3.77% or 32.0 points to end at 881.0 and Gruppa LSR PAO (MCX:LSRG) was up 3.75% or 22.0 points to 608.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF), which fell 2.44% or 17.90 points to trade at 717.00 at the close. VTB (MCX:VTBR) declined 2.33% or 0.0017 points to end at 0.0718 and NOVATEK (MCX:NVTK) was down 2.05% or 12.60 points to 601.30.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 100 to 100 and 11 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 2.90% to 36.210.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.93% or 10.80 to $1176.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 6.00% or 2.59 to hit $45.79 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 4.63% or 2.17 to trade at $48.98 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 2.65% to 63.464, while EUR/RUB fell 2.40% to 70.316.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.38% at 96.66.
