Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Telecoms and Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX lost 1.21% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Gruppa LSR PAO (MCX:LSRG), which rose 3.94% or 25.5 points to trade at 672.0 at the close. Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) added 3.02% or 2.38 points to end at 81.18 and Lenta Ltd (MCX:LNTA) was up 2.56% or 11 points to 440 in late trade.
Biggest losers included AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p), which lost 4.53% or 8200 points to trade at 172800 in late trade. Rosneft (MCX:ROSN) declined 3.56% or 11.55 points to end at 313.10 and Ros Agro PLC (MCX:AGRO) shed 2.57% or 24 points to 910.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 121 to 85 and 21 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.32% to 34.740.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.32% or 4.00 to $1248.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.24% or 0.60 to hit $47.81 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.44% or 0.70 to trade at $48.02 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.19% to 66.9108, while EUR/RUB fell 0.01% to 74.973.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.06% at 95.35.
