Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Mining and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX gained 0.65%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p), which rose 5.77% or 10450 points to trade at 191500 at the close. ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) added 4.43% or 3.950 points to end at 93.200 and DIXY Group ao (MCX:DIXY) was up 2.81% or 6.20 points to 227.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Megion (MCX:MFGS), which lost 4.31% or 25.0 points to trade at 555.0 in late trade. Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY) declined 1.73% or 13.00 points to end at 740.00 and Yandex NV (MCX:YNDX) shed 1.36% or 18.00 points to 1310.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 134 to 95 and 11 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.77% to 23.440.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.29% or 3.70 to $1287.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 2.76% or 1.40 to hit $49.31 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 2.45% or 1.30 to trade at $51.69 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.65% to 56.5746, while EUR/RUB fell 0.02% to 60.469.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.19% at 99.90.
