Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Mining, Oil & Gas and Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX gained 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Bashneft ANK ao (MCX:BANE), which rose 11.92% or 333.0 points to trade at 3125.5 at the close. United Company Rusal Plc (MCX:RUAL) added 6.80% or 1.440 points to end at 22.610 and Yandex NV (MCX:YNDX) was up 5.57% or 66.50 points to 1261.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included MVideo (MCX:MVID), which lost 2.53% or 8.90 points to trade at 343.10 in late trade. Ros Agro PLC (MCX:AGRODR) declined 1.90% or 16 points to end at 827 and FSK EES (MCX:FEES) shed 1.86% or 0.0032 points to 0.1690.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 111 to 106 and 29 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 0.72% to 23.280.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.24% or 3.05 to $1269.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.63% or 0.80 to hit $49.98 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.70% or 0.85 to trade at $50.83 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.18% to 62.7840, while EUR/RUB fell 0.26% to 68.388.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.34% at 98.93.
