Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Financials, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 added 1.55% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP), which rose 5.22% or 0.0023 points to trade at 0.0464 at the close. Teixeira Duarte (LS:TDSA) added 3.53% or 0.0100 points to end at 0.2930 and Portucel (LS:PTI) was up 3.48% or 0.1100 points to 3.2700 in late trade.
Biggest losers included EDP (LS:EDP), which added 0.20% or 0.0060 points to trade at 2.9810 in late trade. Galp Energia Nom (LS:GALP) added 0.56% or 0.0600 points to end at 10.7550 and Banco BPI (LS:BBPI) gained 0.73% or 0.0090 points to 1.2450.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 43 to 3 and 10 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for May delivery was down 1.93% or 0.78 to $39.61 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 3.40% or 1.31 to hit $37.19 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 1.30% or 16.40 to trade at $1243.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.48% to 1.1095, while EUR/GBP fell 0.05% to 0.7748.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.41% at 96.62.
