Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Oil & Gas and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 0.93% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 3.61% or 1.880 points to trade at 53.890 at the close. KPN Kon (AS:KPN) added 0.36% or 0.010 points to end at 2.800 and Altice NV (AS:ATCA) was up 0.20% or 0.03 points to 15.04 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Aegon (AS:AEGN), which lost 2.51% or 0.085 points to trade at 3.295 in late trade. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) declined 2.11% or 0.106 points to end at 4.915 and Gemalto (AS:GTO) shed 1.88% or 1.20 points to 62.67.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 101 to 62 and 8 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 5.02% to 18.19.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 2.12% or 0.93 to $42.98 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 1.63% or 0.76 to hit $45.83 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.47% or 6.15 to trade at $1311.85 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.79% to 1.1155, while EUR/GBP rose 0.49% to 0.8535.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.78% at 96.02.
