Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Telecoms and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.74%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 5.70% or 0.378 points to trade at 7.012 at the close. KPN Kon (AS:KPN) added 3.77% or 0.098 points to end at 2.699 and Aegon (AS:AEGN) was up 1.99% or 0.094 points to 4.817 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which lost 1.68% or 0.940 points to trade at 54.910 in late trade. Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD) declined 1.09% or 0.21 points to end at 19.46 and Aalberts Industries (AS:AALB) shed 0.10% or 0.03 points to 28.80.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 116 to 57 and 10 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 1.58% to 18.17.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was down 1.60% or 0.77 to $47.47 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.86% or 0.42 to hit $48.48 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.19% or 2.30 to trade at $1212.10 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.06% to 1.0625, while EUR/GBP rose 0.60% to 0.8558.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.17% at 101.11.
