Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financials, Consumer Goods and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.27%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 2.53% or 2.090 points to trade at 84.600 at the close. Boskalis Westmin (AS:BOSN) added 1.92% or 0.62 points to end at 32.98 and Unibail Rodamco SE (AS:UNBP) was up 1.74% or 3.80 points to 222.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which lost 1.71% or 0.35 points to trade at 20.39 in late trade. Wolters Kluwer (AS:WLSNc) declined 1.18% or 0.47 points to end at 39.00 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) shed 0.78% or 0.061 points to 7.790.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 65 to 63 and 11 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 2.92% to 15.18 a new 1-month high.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was up 1.09% or 0.56 to $51.71 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 1.01% or 0.55 to hit $54.91 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.44% or 5.50 to trade at $1254.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.11% to 1.0652, while EUR/GBP fell 0.09% to 0.8534.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 100.55.
