Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Oil & Gas Producers, Oil & Gas and General Retailers sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 5.35% to hit a new 6-months low, while the SBF 120 index lost 5.09%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PARIS:MICP), which fell 2.35% or 2.00 points to trade at 83.19 at the close. Meanwhile, Valeo SA (PARIS:VLOF) fell 2.69% or 2.90 points to end at 105.00 and Publicis Groupe SA (PARIS:PUBP) was down 2.80% or 1.73 points to 60.08 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ArcelorMittal SA (AMS:ISPA), which fell 9.48% or 0.70 points to trade at 6.67 at the close. Kering SA (PARIS:PRTP) declined 8.22% or 13.10 points to end at 146.25 and Total SA (PARIS:TOTF) was down 7.90% or 3.25 points to 37.84.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Teleperformance (PARIS:ROCH) which fell 0.51% to 60.30, Euler Hermes (PARIS:ELER) which was down 0.52% to settle at 89.54 and Elis Services SA (PARIS:ELIS) which lost 0.64% to close at 13.99.
The worst performers were ArcelorMittal SA (AMS:ISPA) which was down 9.48% to 6.67 in late trade, Maurel Et Prom (PARIS:MAUP) which lost 9.33% to settle at 4.18 and Remy Cointreau (PARIS:RCOP) which was down 8.26% to 51.78 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 831 to 29 and 24 ended unchanged.
Shares in ArcelorMittal SA (AMS:ISPA) fell to 5-year lows; down 9.48% or 0.70 to 6.67. Shares in Total SA (PARIS:TOTF) fell to 52-week lows; losing 7.90% or 3.25 to 37.84. Shares in ArcelorMittal SA (AMS:ISPA) fell to 5-year lows; losing 9.48% or 0.70 to 6.67. Shares in Maurel Et Prom (PARIS:MAUP) fell to 5-year lows; losing 9.33% or 0.43 to 4.18.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 38.58% to 39.01 a new 52-week high.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.23% or 2.70 to $1156.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 3.36% or 1.36 to hit $39.09 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 3.73% or 1.70 to trade at $43.77 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.55% to 1.1561, while EUR/GBP rose 1.19% to 0.7342.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.28% at 93.62.
