Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Basic Materials and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.24%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.11%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Carrefour SA (PA:CARR), which rose 2.74% or 0.60 points to trade at 22.53 at the close. Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) added 1.76% or 0.23 points to end at 13.32 and BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP) was up 1.02% or 0.43 points to 43.02 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which lost 2.10% or 0.120 points to trade at 5.604 in late trade. Technip (PA:TECF) declined 1.95% or 1.05 points to end at 52.69 and Total SA (PA:TOTF) shed 1.42% or 0.61 points to 42.45.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Teleperformance (PA:ROCH) which rose 8.95% to 89.82, Genfit (PA:GNFT) which was up 4.61% to settle at 25.175 and Gemalto (AS:GTO) which gained 3.12% to close at 58.47.
The worst performers were Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which was down 3.31% to 4.317 in late trade, Neopost (PA:NPOS) which lost 3.11% to settle at 23.70 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) which was down 2.10% to 5.604 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 373 to 263 and 120 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 3.21% to 20.50.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.20% or 2.65 to $1343.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.89% or 1.42 to hit $47.69 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 2.91% or 1.48 to trade at $49.40 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.06% to 1.1317, while EUR/GBP fell 0.54% to 0.8614.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.06% at 94.54.
