Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Healthcare, Technology and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.50%, while the SBF 120 index added 0.49%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Cap Gemini SA (PA:CAPP), which rose 2.84% or 2.24 points to trade at 81.13 at the close. Essilor International Compagnie Generale d’Optique SA (PA:ESSI) added 2.45% or 2.75 points to end at 115.00 and Orange SA (PA:ORAN) was up 2.43% or 0.34 points to 14.55 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which lost 12.14% or 0.56 points to trade at 4.08 in late trade. Technip (PA:TECF) declined 2.52% or 1.20 points to end at 46.25 and Total SA (PA:TOTF) shed 2.00% or 0.86 points to 42.08.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Cap Gemini SA (PA:CAPP) which rose 2.84% to 81.13, Technicolor (PA:TCH) which was up 2.82% to settle at 5.717 and Ipsen (PA:IPN) which gained 2.72% to close at 52.88.
The worst performers were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) which was down 12.14% to 4.08 in late trade, Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which lost 9.34% to settle at 3.43 and Aperam (AS:APAM) which was down 5.27% to 32.34 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 370 to 272 and 118 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 0.40% to 23.34.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 2.13% or 27.50 to $1266.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 2.64% or 1.18 to hit $43.48 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 3.59% or 1.63 to trade at $43.74 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.04% to 1.1399, while EUR/GBP rose 0.15% to 0.7913.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.25% at 94.06.
