Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumption, Industrials and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 2.10%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were JBS SA (SA:JBSS3), which rose 19.07% or 1.77 points to trade at 11.05 at the close. Localiza Rent a Car SA (SA:RENT3) added 7.88% or 2.52 points to end at 34.52 and Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3) was up 6.81% or 0.42 points to 6.59 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3), which lost 2.14% or 0.36 points to trade at 16.50 in late trade. CEMIG - Companhia Energetica Minas Gerais Pref (SA:CMIG4) declined 1.20% or 0.09 points to end at 7.38 and Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) shed 0.74% or 0.03 points to 4.01.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 214 to 148 and 37 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 5.09% to 37.48.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 0.55% or 6.45 to $1170.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 2.03% or 1.05 to hit $50.74 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 1.29% or 1.86 to trade at $142.57 .
USD/BRL was down 0.44% to 3.4076, while EUR/BRL fell 0.84% to 3.6529.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.36% at 100.52.
