Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Financials and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 1.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4), which rose 5.06% or 0.200 points to trade at 4.150 at the close. Vale SA (SA:VALE3) added 3.74% or 0.63 points to end at 17.49 and Smiles ON (SA:SMLE3) was up 3.67% or 1.84 points to 52.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5), which lost 2.31% or 0.25 points to trade at 10.57 in late trade. Cia de Saneamento Basico do Estado (SA:SBSP3) declined 1.53% or 0.45 points to end at 29.00 and BRF SA (SA:BRFS3) shed 1.53% or 0.84 points to 53.94.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 205 to 173 and 26 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.02% to 33.96.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.26% or 3.45 to $1331.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.37% or 0.17 to hit $46.05 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 0.55% or 0.84 to trade at $150.73 .
USD/BRL was down 0.92% to 3.2430, while EUR/BRL fell 0.41% to 3.6428.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.20% at 95.14.
