Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Real Estate and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 0.54%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Klabin Unt (SA:KLBN11), which rose 6.18% or 0.99 points to trade at 17.01 at the close. CCR SA (SA:CCRO3) added 5.97% or 0.84 points to end at 14.91 and Lojas Americanas SA (SA:LAME4) was up 5.06% or 0.81 points to 16.81 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3), which lost 2.12% or 0.14 points to trade at 6.45 in late trade. Petroleo Brasileiro SA PN (SA:PETR4) declined 1.80% or 0.29 points to end at 15.86 and Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR3) shed 1.56% or 0.29 points to 18.32.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 216 to 148 and 30 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 2.12% to 36.93.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was up 0.47% or 5.55 to $1175.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 2.00% or 1.02 to hit $49.91 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 0.32% or 0.45 to trade at $142.12 .
USD/BRL was down 0.70% to 3.3843, while EUR/BRL fell 0.28% to 3.6428.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.29% at 100.22.
