The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL), which rose 3.31% or 30.50 points to trade at 951.00 at the close. Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT) added 2.67% or 32.00 points to end at 1230.00 and Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) was up 2.28% or 41.00 points to 1838.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ITV PLC (LON:ITV), which lost 3.86% or 7.50 points to trade at 186.70 in late trade. BAE Systems PLC (LON:BAES) declined 2.42% or 13.000 points to end at 524.500 and Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC (LON:RBS) shed 2.09% or 3.900 points to 182.600.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1283 to 859 and 467 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.21% or 2.85 to $1341.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 3.09% or 1.43 to hit $44.89 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 2.60% or 1.24 to trade at $46.41 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.84% to 1.2965, while EUR/GBP rose 1.03% to 0.8662.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.07% at 95.38.
