Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as in the sectors propelled shares .

The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC (LON:RBS), which rose 6.81% or 16.500 points to trade at 258.900 at the close. Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) added 6.31% or 42.00 points to end at 708.00 and Hammerson PLC (LON:HMSO) was up 4.25% or 24.00 points to 588.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Unilever PLC (LON:ULVR), which lost 6.56% or 249.00 points to trade at 3548.00 in late trade. Pearson PLC (LON:PSON) declined 3.89% or 26.00 points to end at 642.50 and Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM) shed 3.14% or 26.00 points to 802.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1080 to 800 and 434 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.01% or 0.15 to $1238.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.30% or 0.16 to hit $53.94 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.50% or 0.28 to trade at $56.09 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.41% to 1.2460, while EUR/GBP fell 0.43% to 0.8522.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 100.85.
