Investing.com – Turkey equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Metals, Metal Products & Machinery and Banking sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Istanbul, the BIST 100 lost 0.62%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BIST 100 were Hurriyet Gzt. (IS:HURGZ), which rose 6.76% or 0.050 points to trade at 0.790 at the close. Dogan Holding (IS:DOHOL) added 5.19% or 0.040 points to end at 0.810 and Global Yat. Holding (IS:GLYHO) was up 3.64% or 0.060 points to 1.710 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Eregli Demir Celik (IS:EREGL), which lost 4.62% or 0.230 points to trade at 4.750 in late trade. Aygaz (IS:AYGAZ) declined 3.15% or 0.37 points to end at 11.39 and Karsan Otomotiv (IS:KARSN) shed 2.68% or 0.030 points to 1.090.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 197 to 144 and 64 ended unchanged on the Istanbul Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was up 0.23% or 2.65 to $1164.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.57% or 0.30 to hit $52.63 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.58% or 0.32 to trade at $55.79 a barrel.
USD/TRY was down 0.57% to 3.5735, while EUR/TRY rose 0.11% to 3.7444.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.61% at 102.61.
