Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Power & Energy, Motors and Trading sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share lost 0.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Hapugastenne Plantations PLC (CM:HAPU), which rose 24.84% or 3.90 points to trade at 19.60 at the close. SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB) added 20.00% or 0.1000 points to end at 0.6000 and Tangerine Beach Hotels PLC (CM:TANG) was up 18.11% or 9.60 points to 62.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Agalawatte Plantations PLC (CM:AGAL), which lost 14.74% or 2.80 points to trade at 16.20 in late trade. People’s Merchant Finance PLC (CM:PMB) declined 12.86% or 1.80 points to end at 12.20 and Equity Two PLC (CM:ETWO) shed 11.11% or 6.50 points to 52.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 94 to 68 and 62 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 0.28% or 0.15 to $53.35 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 0.20% or 0.11 to hit $56.12 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.13% or 1.65 to trade at $1223.85 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.45% to 184.350, while USD/LKR fell 0.03% to 151.210.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 101.78.
