Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Plantations, Beverages & Tobacco and Land & Property sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share gained 1.55% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Browns Investments PLC (CM:BROW), which rose 21.43% or 0.300 points to trade at 1.700 at the close. SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB) added 20.00% or 0.1000 points to end at 0.6000 and Standard Capital PLC (CM:SING) was up 16.50% or 9.90 points to 69.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Serendib Land PLC (CM:SLND), which lost 17.23% or 286.20 points to trade at 1375.00 in late trade. Radiant Gems International PLC (CM:RGEM) declined 12.22% or 3.30 points to end at 23.70 and George Steuart Finance Ltd (CM:GEOR) shed 9.66% or 2.80 points to 26.20.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 186 to 29 and 44 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was up 0.54% or 0.29 to $53.69 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 0.62% or 0.35 to hit $56.58 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.13% or 1.65 to trade at $1275.85 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.39% to 189.400, while USD/LKR fell 0.40% to 151.710.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 100.65.
