Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Information Technology, Services and Banking, Financials & Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share gained 0.23%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Paragon Ceylon PLC (CM:PARA), which rose 12.68% or 7.20 points to trade at 64.00 at the close. Tal Lanka Hotels PLC (CM:TAJ) added 9.62% or 2.50 points to end at 28.50 and Mahaweli Reach Hotel PLC (CM:MRH) was up 7.18% or 1.50 points to 22.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB), which lost 12.50% or 0.1000 points to trade at 0.7000 in late trade. F L C Holdings PLC (CM:FREE) declined 7.69% or 0.100 points to end at 1.200 and Muller & Phipps PLC (CM:MULL) shed 7.69% or 0.100 points to 1.200.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 97 to 62 and 62 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was down 0.32% or 0.16 to $50.28 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.53% or 0.28 to hit $52.23 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.49% or 6.15 to trade at $1259.15 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 1.96% to 182.615, while USD/LKR rose 0.42% to 147.310.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.42% at 97.07.
