Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Consumer Goods and Building & Construction sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 fell 1.54%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Gas Natural (MC:GAS), which rose 0.06% or 0.010 points to trade at 17.785 at the close. FCC (MC:FCC) added 0.03% or 0.002 points to end at 7.606 and Indra A (MC:IDR) was down 0.14% or 0.015 points to 10.380 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which lost 3.08% or 0.116 points to trade at 3.645 in late trade. Mapfre (MC:MAP) declined 2.94% or 0.059 points to end at 1.947 and ACS Const. (MC:ACS) shed 2.69% or 0.705 points to 25.500.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 153 to 40 and 14 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was down 0.20% or 2.40 to $1221.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.85% or 0.34 to hit $39.45 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.37% or 0.15 to trade at $40.32 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.04% to 1.1176, while EUR/GBP fell 0.47% to 0.7885.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.07% at 96.13.
