Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Consumer Services and Building & Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 rose 0.87%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were BBVA (MC:BBVA), which rose 3.35% or 0.175 points to trade at 5.405 at the close. Int.Airl.Grp (MC:ICAG) added 3.17% or 0.145 points to end at 4.726 and Bankia (MC:BKIA) was up 2.66% or 0.019 points to 0.733 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which lost 2.08% or 0.119 points to trade at 5.602 in late trade. Acerinox (MC:ACX) declined 1.36% or 0.160 points to end at 11.570 and Distribuidora Intl de Aliment (MC:DIDA) shed 1.10% or 0.061 points to 5.492.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 109 to 78 and 20 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 1.13% or 15.15 to $1330.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.97% or 1.43 to hit $46.67 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.86% or 0.93 to trade at $49.03 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.41% to 1.1260, while EUR/GBP fell 0.69% to 0.8506.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.26% at 94.75.
