Investing.com – Poland equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Food and Media sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 gained 0.78%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Gornictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo SA (WA:PGN), which rose 5.44% or 0.27 points to trade at 5.23 at the close. Globe Trade Centre SA (WA:GTCP) added 3.75% or 0.30 points to end at 8.30 and Alior Bank SA (WA:ALRR) was up 2.66% or 1.23 points to 47.53 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lubelski Wegiel Bogdanka SA (WA:LWBP), which lost 3.29% or 1.91 points to trade at 56.20 in late trade. Grupa Azoty SA (WA:ATTP) declined 2.15% or 1.36 points to end at 62.00 and OrangePL (WA:OPL) shed 1.71% or 0.10 points to 5.76.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 267 to 251 and 211 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 1.90% or 0.83 to $44.45 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 1.94% or 0.89 to hit $46.66 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.55% or 7.15 to trade at $1317.35 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was down 0.29% to 4.2957, while USD/PLN fell 0.57% to 3.8434.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.35% at 95.72.
