WARSAW, Aug 11 (Reuters) - Poland's power producer PGE
PGE.WA said that its power plant in Belchatow, the country's
biggest one, is immune to the continued heatwave thanks to an
individual, closed cooling system, the plant's spokeswoman said
on Tuesday.
"Our power units are using a closed cooling circuit and heat
and low water levels do not create a risk of capacity outages,"
Iwona Paziak said in a statement.
A heatwave has forced Poland to sharply cut electricity
supply to industry for the first time in over a decade on
Monday. High temperatures and a lack of rain reduced the amount
of water in rivers used to cool down coal-fired power plants.
