Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Banking and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 added 0.81%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES), which rose 5.00% or 3.00 points to trade at 63.00 at the close. Wapco (LAGOS:WAPCO) added 4.02% or 2.01 points to end at 52.00 and Stanbicibtc Hl (LAGOS:IBTC) was up 3.44% or 1.04 points to 31.02 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Dangote Flour Mills PLC (LAGOS:DANGFLOUR), which lost 2.80% or 0.14 points to trade at 4.86 in late trade. Uacn Prop (LAGOS:UACN) declined 2.47% or 0.42 points to end at 16.58 and Fidelitybk (LAGOS:FIDELIT) shed 2.34% or 0.030 points to 1.250.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 46 to 34 and 12 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 1.17% or 0.53 to $46.02 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 1.17% or 0.56 to hit $48.30 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.09% or 1.10 to trade at $1218.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.57% to 358.440, while USD/NGN fell 0.29% to 349.500.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 95.59.
