Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Healthcare, Telecoms and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 1.32%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Wolters Kluwer (AS:WLSNc), which rose 0.24% or 0.09 points to trade at 35.19 at the close. TNT Express (AS:TNTE) added 0.14% or 0.011 points to end at 7.826 and Randstad (AS:RAND) was down 0.58% or 0.27 points to 46.55 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ABN AMRO Group NV (AS:ABNd), which lost 3.49% or 0.62 points to trade at 17.30 in late trade. SBM Offshore (AS:SBMO) declined 3.17% or 0.36 points to end at 11.15 and Aegon (AS:AEGN) shed 2.83% or 0.143 points to 4.915.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 131 to 36 and 8 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 10.70% to 21.81.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 0.88% or 0.35 to $39.44 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.42% or 0.17 to hit $40.30 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 0.20% or 2.50 to trade at $1221.50 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.04% to 1.1176, while EUR/GBP fell 0.47% to 0.7885.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.07% at 96.13.
