Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Technology, Consumer Goods and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 0.11%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Koninklijke Philips NV (AS:PHG), which rose 4.00% or 1.24 points to trade at 32.23 at the close. Aegon NV (AS:AEGN) added 1.19% or 0.055 points to end at 4.677 and Altice NV (AS:ATCA) was up 0.86% or 0.18 points to 21.09 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Gemalto (AS:GTO), which lost 19.73% or 10.85 points to trade at 44.15 in late trade. Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO) declined 1.23% or 0.94 points to end at 75.07 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) shed 1.07% or 0.750 points to 69.470.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 71 to 54 and 11 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 3.38% to 13.17.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 1.03% or 0.47 to $46.24 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.89% or 0.43 to hit $48.49 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.01% or 0.14 to trade at $1255.04 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.26% to 1.1634, while EUR/GBP fell 0.47% to 0.8931.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 93.88.
