Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Technology and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 1.61%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 5.59% or 0.250 points to trade at 4.719 at the close. Randstad (AS:RAND) added 4.67% or 1.64 points to end at 36.62 and Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO) was up 3.53% or 1.96 points to 57.41 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ahold Kon (AS:AHLN), which added 0.10% or 0.02 points to trade at 21.06 in late trade. Royal Dutch Shell A (AS:RDSa) added 0.16% or 0.04 points to end at 24.79 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) gained 0.30% or 0.150 points to 50.250.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 142 to 27 and 7 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 6.95% to 19.29 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 1.23% or 0.56 to $44.85 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 1.20% or 0.56 to hit $46.20 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.08% or 1.15 to trade at $1359.55 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.01% to 1.1049, while EUR/GBP fell 0.07% to 0.8517.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.35% at 96.65.
