Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Industrials and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 1.43%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 4.72% or 2.125 points to trade at 47.170 at the close. Gemalto (AS:GTO) added 3.37% or 1.68 points to end at 51.46 and KPN Kon (AS:KPN) was up 3.21% or 0.095 points to 3.056 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Aegon (AS:AEGN), which lost 1.33% or 0.048 points to trade at 3.557 in late trade. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) declined 0.95% or 0.038 points to end at 3.968 and Altice NV (AS:ATCA) shed 0.34% or 0.04 points to 13.10.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 143 to 28 and 10 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 12.75% to 27.67.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 2.07% or 0.96 to $47.29 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 1.88% or 0.90 to hit $48.67 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.53% or 7.05 to trade at $1317.65 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.34% to 1.1063, while EUR/GBP fell 0.26% to 0.8313.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.26% at 96.30.
